Building hyperlinks to resources that work off and onsite (durable proxy links)

A few extra steps are needed to ensure offsite access and that the link leads to what you intended.

To create a durable remote access link to resources add https://sharphealthcare.idm.oclc.org/login?url= before the link to the article, ebook, database, or other information resource. Make sure that there are no spaces between the urls. Also, make sure that the joined url is treated as one url and not 2 separate urls. (An easy way to do this is by pasting the proxy link ahead of the destination link in notepad.) See also the exceptions below.

EBSCO

Make sure that you use the EBSCO permalink (tip sheet).

OVID

Make sure that you use the OVID jump start link (tip sheet).

Stat!Ref and Gale

Stat!Ref and Gale ebooks require an embedded alias. Use the list of proxied links for these products

Mometrix

Besides the ezproxy prefix, add the account suffix at the end of the url to show as a Sharp user. ?__acct=12467

Example: https://portal.mometrixelibrary.com/flashcard/products/NCCTNCMAFlash

Durable link: https://sharphealthcare.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://portal.mometrixelibrary.com/flashcard/products/NCCTNCMAFlash?__acct=12467

ClinicalKey for Nursing

Choose one of the 3 options below.

1. Individual articles without encoding:

Example: https://www.clinicalkey.com/service/content/pdf/watermarked/1-s2.0-S0029655421001445.pdf?locale=en_US&searchIndex=

Clicking on the above example returns a message "{"response":{"message":"No Active Session.","status":902}}" and not the PDF article itself.

Extract the /article number/destination identifier from the URL. In the above example the source/article number/destination identifier is "1-s2.0-S0029655421001445"

Take that identifier and append it to this base URL: https://www.clinicalkey.com/nursing/playcontent/ then we will be taken to the HTML file that contains a link to the PDF:

https://www.clinicalkey.com/nursing/playcontent/1-s2.0-S0029655421001445 Using this logic, we don't need to encode CKN links and can use the same proxy prefix for all vendors. This is an alternative to encoding below.

2. Book & Journal titles without encoding:

You can use the durable links from Master Content List – ClinicalKey for Nursing for journal and book titles. These don't need to be encoded. There is no list of durable links for articles etc. Using these durable link, we don't need to encode CKN links and can use the same proxy prefix for all vendors. This is an alternative to encoding below.

3. Encoding links and using the encoding proxy prefix: Because Ezproxy is not able to read the “!” in the url, Individual proxy/remote links to CKN need to encoded. You can use an encoding website. (Example: https://www.url encode decode.com/) Paste the destination URL for the CKN resource in the encode box. Copy the encoded link and add the CKN proxy prefix for encoded urls:  http://sharphealthcare.idm.oclc.org/login?qurl=. Please note that this proxy prefix is unique for urls that need to be encoded for EZproxy
